Hurricane Charley radar imagery over a topo map. Punta Gorda
Hurricane Charley radar imagery placed over a topo map -- courtesy of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This video documents approximately 2 hours of Hurricane Charley as it moved across southwest Florida on August 13, 2004. Towns include Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, North Port, Fort Ogden and Arcadia. The lower left portion of the map represents the Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, and North Port areas. Note that only extreme eastern North Port received hurricane conditions. Next, the small community of Fort Ogden would take the full brunt of the storm. Hurricane Charley then struck the town of Arcadia, located just to the right of dead center on the map.

Home Hurricane / Storm Protection Brackets
Shur-Lock - Home Hurricane / Storm Protection Brackets Hurricane season is fast approaching!! According to the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center many people cannot afford any type of commercial shutter. Cafferty on Walter Reed: A National Disgrace
Cafferty: Another Hurricane Katrina — that's how the "New York Times'" Paul Krugman describes the scandal surrounding the Walter Reed Medical Center and he is absolutely right. Another glaring example of the Bush administration's lack of ability to deal with the consequences of its actions. Four years after invading Iraq, we're finding out that many of our returning wounded soldiers are being treated like garbage. And the government is quick to sing the chorus of, well, we didn't know. The former commander of Walter Reed Medical Center, this Lieutenant General Kevin Kiley — he's now the surgeon general of the United States — he lived across the street from Building 18 at Walter Reed — across the street. Why hasn't he resigned or why hasn't he been fired? The politicians, well, they want commissions. That's the answer to everything. New York Senator Charles Schumer, he wants an independent commission. President Bush wants a bipartisan commission. In four years, no one bothered to see if our veterans were getting the treatment they're entitled to. Walter Reed Army Medical Center is in Washington, D.C. We're not talking some medical tent at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan. It is a national disgrace, just exactly like Katrina was. Congress appropriates more than $200 million like — for things like Ted Stevens' Bridge To Nowhere in Alaska, but our wounded veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are ignored. It might be worth remembering when the next election rolls around. What do you think? Here's the question — who is ultimately responsible for the conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center?

Tropical Storm Gordon - In Miami, Florida
This is a sample of my Tropical Storm Gordon chase footage. This video was taken during Gordon's slow and erratic movement near and over South Florida, from November 13-16, 1994. Gordon was a relatively disorganized tropical storm, however, it had a very large windfield and produced extended periods of tropical storm conditions over the southern peninsula. Originating in the Caribbean Sea, south of Jamaica, Gordon moved northward across Cuba, then turned west-northwest through the Florida Straits into the Gulf of Mexico and then recurved sharply to the northeast, finally making landfall near Fort Myers. Gordon's maximum sustained winds were near 50mph with gusts near 70mph. The highest officially recorded winds in South Florida were sustained at 53mph from Virginia Key (near Miami) and a gust to 62mph at the Fowey Rocks lighthouse. I recorded a gust of 72kt (83mph) at my home in Southern Dade country, which was noted in the National Hurricane Center preliminary report on the storm. Highest winds in this video are sustained around 40mph, gusting to 60mph, and occur between 3min 40sec and 4min 30sec into the clip. After leaving Florida, Gordon restrengthend in the Atlantic and reached Hurricane strength offshore North Carolina.
