The key ingredient in this modern-day version of Charles Dickens's classic is director Alfonso Cuarón, who made the glowing, estimable A Little Princess. If you saw that (and you should), understand that Expectations has those ingredients (great sense of time, place, and timing) but adds modern music and sex appeal; the latter personified by the long-legged Gwyneth Paltrow. Finnegan Bell (Ethan Hawke as an adult, Jeremy James Kissner at age 10) is the new version of Dickens's Pip. He's a child wise beyond his years, befriending an escaped convict (Robert De Niro) in the warm waters of Florida's Gulf Coast. Finn is also the plaything for Estella (Paltrow as an adult, Raquel Beaudene at age 10), the niece of the coast's richest and most eccentric lady, Ms. Dinsmoor (a fun and flamboyant Anne Bancroft). The prudish Estella likes Finn (catch the best first kiss scene in many a moon) but has been brought up to disdain men; she'll break hearts. As the object of Finn's desires, Estella unfortunately is a one-dimensional character, yet what a dimension! Clad in Donna Karan dresses and her long, sun-kissed hair, Paltrow is luminous. She and Hawke make a very sexy couple. Mitch Glazer's script does better by Finn. He's a blue-collar worker with a gift for drawing (artwork by Francesco Clemente). Following his Uncle Joe's (Chris Cooper) honest ways, Finn grows up as a fisherman, thoughts of Estella and art drifting away in the hard work. When a mysterious benefactor allows him to follow his dream, Finn finds himself in New York, preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime art exhibit--and in the arms of the engaged Estella. Filled with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki's golden-drenched light, the film has an irresistible, wildly romantic look. Dinsmoor's place is certainly gothic, Estella and Finn's longing encounters glamorous. Cuarón uses an MTV-friendly soundtrack with a confident touch. Songs by Tori Amos and the band Pulp--along with Patrick Doyle's silky score--create passionate scenes. It all ends far too swiftly with a seemingly tacked-on ending (reflecting the book, as it happens) but the film is splendid storytelling. It's a stylish, sweet valentine.

SNORE
In April of 2005...two of Robert Morris University's most prestigeous professors of film production....were abducted and thrown into a mysterious room behind Hopwood Hall...They both don't know how they got there but they are given instructions to complete a documentary on Fredrico Felini (a famous film auteur) and complete the project by 6:00 p.m....if they fail...Lutz Bacher will die and Bill Judson will be left inside this mysterious room behind Hopwood Hall forever...If you have ever taken a class by either of these two professors then you will understand the meaning behind the title...SNORE is a film parody worth falling asleep to...So grab yourself a nice fluffy pillow...some hot chocolate with marshmallows and prepare to be bored to death....because like the title suggests...it will put you to sleep...just like I was put to sleep from their class lectures....Fans of the movie SAW...this is what you have been waiting for....Is Jim Seguin behind this whole plot or is it Carolina Loyola-Garcia...we may never know....suprises lurk around every corner of this film...so keep an open eye...enjoy

faithless bombs
The video, which was banned on release by MTV[1] in the US, shows scenes of everyday life contrasted and combined with footage of war. Children run across the deck of an aircraft carrier, a family skip hand-in-hand through the surf on a beach as a mushroom cloud rises on the horizon, a couple share a romantic meal while troops engage in combat outside their window and a man washes his car as troops rescue a wounded soldier in front of his driveway. Director Greenhalgh told shots.net: "I didn't see the video as particularly political, pro war, or anti war. It's actually a representation of where we are all at right now. War infects all our lives; recently it feels that this has increasingly become 'our way of life'. It is rare to be given the opportunity to shoot a video that is deemed controversial. All I tried to do was make people think about the everyday life we live in our comfortable existences, and the contrast to that through war." [1] Derek Moore, who oversaw post production as head of 2D at Clear, added: "Although it is brilliant to be able to work on a project so poignant in its meaning, I have long since abandoned the idea that I can change the world with a bit of postproduction."

A Toys Orchestra-PETER PAN SYNDROME
The "young team" from the south of Italy is back! Their new full-length is hysteric but yet romantic, it's surprisingly mature and deep, inspired and dreamy. We left those boys and girls still "sauvage" as the lo-fi feeling that was overwhelming from their debut release (on Job-Fridge Records 2001) that crossed the heart of many indie-rockers. Now here they are fully aware of their skills, they kept on growing and have also been able to put out an album that's simply catchy. The thick production gives an international dimension to this wonderful combo. In the autumn of 2003 the band signed for Urtovox and started immediately recording the new album with Giacomo Fiorenza at Alpha Department (a division of Groove studio) in Bologna. The whole work has been supervised and produced by Paolo Naselli Flores. "Cuckoo boohoo" came out around the half of September 2004 in Italy, Germany, Austria and Swiss. The record was supported by the wonderful clip of 'Peter Pan Syndrome', you might have seen on MTV (the clip is also included as a rom track on the cd). At the moment the band is engaged in the production of the new record out in GEN 2007 with the collaboration of DUSTIN O'HALLORAN (DEVICS-Bella union rec) for the artistic supervision and the technical production of the master.
