I am 18 years old and I have always been healthy and very physically active before these symptoms began after I was hit by a car while riding my bike almost a year ago. Although I was not seriously injured during the accident, I have had many muscular problems that progressively worsened in the first few weeks after the accident and now seem to be perpetuating themselves. My symptoms have improved somewhat, but I am still struggling to get better and back to normal again. In addition to the fasciculations shown, I have myofascial trigger points in virtually every skeletal muscle. The fasciculations occur spontaneously in many muscles throughout my body as well as after I stretch. The finger twitching shown occurs with voluntary adduction of my fingers, but only happens after times when I have been stretching or somewhat active. I've tried many different therapy types including lots of myofascial release massage, chiropractic adjustments, trigger point injections, physical therapy including ultrasound, and self-myofascial release using a TheraCane and racket ball, but so far nothing has provided lasting help. I eat a healthy diet, drink lots of water, supplement with magnesium, and take a good multi-vitamin. I've never used any drugs or had any significant illnesses. I also don't drink caffeine or alcohol and have no anxiety issues. I have had one neurology appointment recently, and I have an EMG scheduled, but I would appreciate ANY insight that anybody could give me as to why these problems might be occurring and how I might be able to fix them.
